GENEALOGICAL SERVICES

Welcome

Southern Roots Genealogical Services, based in Birmingham, Alabama, specializes in research of the Southeastern United States. I hold a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University.
My research abides by the standards compiled by the Board for Certification of Genealogists® for application to all genealogical research (Genealogical Standards, Nashville, TN: Ancestry, 2014).

Whether you're searching for an elusive record or you want to build your family tree from scratch, no project is too large or too small. Simply click on the "Get Started Now" button to send a message and get a quick response to see if my services are right for you.

Every client receives a research consultation, a digital package or mailed copies of all new records found (ex. birth/death records, census images, photographs, and maps relevant to your project) and a comprehensive report explaining the findings and offering suggestions for any future research. If you have hit a brick wall in your research and you need ideas for what to do next, I also offer consultations.

I have been conducting genealogical work since 1998, and I created Southern Roots Genealogical Services in 2015. I have worked all over the Southern U.S. for clients from diverse backgrounds wanting to know more about their family histories. I have also compiled property histories for clients wanting to know about their older homes. I have conducted research for several episodes of the television series Who Do You Think You Are? My advanced graduate training in historical documents, paleography (reading old handwriting), historic sites, and Southern history allow me to provide you with detailed, professional research.
